Start the VegFest celebration early with a special ticketed dinner on Friday, September 15, 2017. We’ll begin the evening in the big tent at Martin Luther King Jr. Park at 5:00 pm, when you can view and bid on all of our Silent Auction items, including a Ramon Santiago print, a beautiful handmade metalwork sign by local artist, John Greico, and gift certificates to some of Rochester’s best places! Dinner will be at 6:00, created by the talented folks at The Red Fern, and finished with dessert by Happy Cakes. At 7:00, we will screen “Speciesism: The Movie”, followed by a talk by the movie’s producer and director, Mark Devries. Tickets are very limited, and can be purchased for $40 below, with proceeds going to help defray the cost of bringing some of the vegan community’s best speakers to Rochester VegFest – and many of those speakers will be at the dinner on Friday night!

We are pleased to offer you an amazing way to start your day at Rochester VegFest! Mary Barletta will be leading a very special Yoga Benefit Class from 8:00 to 9:30 on Saturday September 16. All proceeds from your $20 donation will directly benefit Jo-Anne McArthur’s We Animals Project, which documents through photography animals in the human environment. Ten lucky yogis will receive a free Coobie Yoga Bra, generously donated by our friends at Coobie. We hope to see you there!

We are far, far beyond excited that vegan bodybuilder Torre Washington is speaking at Rochester VegFest.

We are so excited that Jo-Anne McArthur will be speaking at Vegfest!
McArthur is an award-winning photographer, author, and educator based in Toronto, Canada. Through her long-term body of work, We Animals, she has been documenting our complex relationship with animals around the globe. Since 1998, her work has taken her to over fifty countries.
McArthur’s first book, We Animals, was published in 2014. Her forthcoming book, Captive, will be published in summer 2017.
McArthur was the subject of the critically acclaimed 2013 documentary The Ghosts in Our Machine, which followed her as she documented the plight of abused and exploited animals and advocated for their rights as sentient beings.
Her newest endeavour, The Unbound Project, with co-author Dr. Keri Cronin, is a photographic project that celebrates female leaders at the forefront of animal advocacy, both contemporary and historical.
McArthur’s photography and writing has been in publications such as National Geographic and National Geographic Traveller, The Guardian, The Globe and Mail, the LA Times, Elle Canada, Canadian Geographic, THIS Magazine, DAYS Japan, Helsingin Sanomat, Der Spiegel, PhotoLife magazine, PDN Online, Huffington Post, Earth Island Journal, Outdoor Photography, Feature Shoot, Alternatives Journal, Canadian Living, and Canadian Dimension. In addition, We Animals images have been used by more than 100 organizations, publishers and academics to advocate for animals.

Pitty Love Rescue will be at the Rochester VegFest!
Pitty Love’s primary focus is to find responsible homes for the dogs in their care and provide lifelong support to the dogs’ new families.
They have a strong secondary focus on advocacy, information sharing, and community outreach. They routinely work with the under-served portion of our community to help keep dogs in homes by providing necessary resources. That includes but is not limited to: low cost spay/neuter, vetting assistance, training assistance, help with food, and collaboration to acquire affordable, non-discriminatory housing.
